At one point late last summer, we realized we hadn’t left the city. At all. In months. We didn’t have a reason to—we were as happy as this season’s Cubs fans. But we figured visiting some relatives was perhaps in the cards. Yes, we would travel to the ’burbs for dinner, and stay the night. And it was lovely. Lovely and… quiet. We called our brother and told him about the pleasant rhythm of crickets chirping, and rustling leaves so softly symphonic in the trees. He asked: were we under the influence? We quickly denied being in any way influenced, and then poured ourselves another glass of wine, settling in for a night of chatting with our grandparents. Moral of the story? There isn't one. | 3 | MmmmBBop Apparently, BBop Lounge is our doppelganger (albeit with sleeker style). As soon as we got settled, our waiter was pouring wine and presenting us with a sample platter of staple Korean dishes, on the house. We’re glad he did, too, because without it we would have missed out on the addicting cucumber kimchee. The space has tables for groups as well as a bar with make-your-own food stations—the main allure of BBop. All the dishes were perfect, and we could have eaten at least half a dozen more vegetable pancakes. Trust us; order a round! |
